What to expect?
Prior to your first appointment, you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire regarding your current health. This can be completed at home or upon your arrival at the clinic.
Your first visit will start with a comprehensive case history, which is your opportunity to talk to your chiropractor about your problem, how it is affecting you and what you would like to achieve from treatment.
A physical examination will follow to help your chiropractor understand the cause and diagnosis of your condition. You may be asked to remove some items of clothing and you will be provided with a gown.
If further investigations are required to assist this process, for example X-rays, MRI scans or blood tests, this will be discussed with you and arranged.
Your chiropractor will then discuss what they have concluded from their examination and how it is best treated. They will then work with you to create a bespoke/personal treatment plan that is suitable to your needs.
Your first treatment is usually included in your first appointment and could involve a number of different therapies including, but not limited to –
- Specific joint manipulation or mobilisations
- Soft tissue techniques such as massage
- Dry needle therapy (a form of acupuncture)
- Laser Therapy
- Rocktape (a type of kinesio tape)
- Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation
- Exercise prescription
